Spencer P. Hoffman

Managing Director

Spencer is a Managing Director of LMP and a member of its Investment Committee.  Spencer joined the Philadelphia office of LMP in 2007.

Prior to joining LMP, Spencer was a Principal at Safeguard Scientifics, a publicly-traded growth capital investor.  In his five years at Safeguard, Spencer completed private equity and public transactions across a variety of industries, stages, and structures.  Prior to Safeguard, Spencer was an Associate with Mellon Ventures.  He began his career in Merrill Lynch's Global Investment Banking Group where he worked on a variety of equity, convertible debt, M&A, and other strategic mandates, and then joined MicroStrategy as Manager of Corporate Affairs, reporting to the CEO.

Spencer received an MBA in Finance/Private Equity from the Wharton School of Business, and a Bachelor of Arts in African American Studies from Brown University.  Spencer is a member of the Board of Directors of Dahlman Rose & Co., Leerink Swann Holdings, and H.D. Vest Financial Services.  Spencer is also the Co-President of Wharton Private Equity Partners, an organization for Wharton and University of Pennsylvania alumni working in the private equity, private debt, and venture capital industries.
