Stein Roe Investment Counsel LLC (“SRIC”) was a nationally registered investment advisor and the separate account management business of Stein, Roe & Farnham, founded in 1932, with its corporate headquarters in Chicago and client servicing and investment management offices in Cleveland, New York and San Francisco. Stein Roe provided investment management services through a centralized institutional investment process on a tax-sensitive basis for high-net-worth individuals, institutions, endowments and foundations.

In December 2000, LMP partnered with the management team of SRIC to purchase the business in a leveraged buyout from its parent, Liberty Financial Companies, Inc. (NYSE: LFC) In March 2004, SRIC was acquired by Invesco (NYSE: IVZ) and merged into its subsidiary Atlantic Trust.
