Matthews International Capital Management, LLC is an independent investment management company and registered investment advisor that focuses exclusively on investing in Asian financial markets.  The Company is the investment manager of the Matthews Asia Funds, a U.S. mutual fund complex with eleven open-end funds.  The Matthews Asia Funds offer a range of investment strategies that span the risk-reward spectrum and are available to both retail and institutional investors.  Matthews also manages three Luxembourg-domiciled offshore funds as well as a number of separate accounts for select foundations and corporations. 

Founded in 1991, the Company has a 20-year track record of exclusively investing within Asian markets and has generated an excellent track record over a variety of global market environments and cycles.  The Company is headquartered in San Francisco and has approximately 80 employees.  As of June 30, 2011, Matthews had approximately $18 billion in assets under management.

With the support of the Matthews’ founders and its management, LMP and related co-investors have acquired various equity interests in the Company which were previously held by inactive outside shareholders.
